BREAKFAST WITH BARBARA ODETTO
Born in Turin in 1996, he lived in the Piedmontese capital until he was 15 and became interested in music thanks to his uncle. During high school, he studied both in America and Italy, later moving to the United States to attend Audio Engineering at the "SAE Creative Media Institute." After completing his studies, he relocated to London where he has been living for six years. There, he decided to bring something different to the music industry and opened a marketing agency, through which he met significant figures in the field. Determined and pragmatic, Eric self-produced and released his first single, "Right Now." However, this isn’t his first experience; already known as "The Chef," he is an established producer of electronic and techno music. Young but capable of turning dreams into reality, he owns two record labels: Simi Records and The Chef Music. Stay tuned because Eric Simi will certainly make waves in the industry!
Barbara Odetto: Tell us about yourself.
Eric Simi: I've always admired the power of music and its ability to express and absorb life's strongest emotions. Growing up in Turin, I had my first experiences with this world: first by listening and watching my uncle perform in clubs, and later by selling pre-sale tickets to have a chance to perform myself. Music is the way I believe I can best express myself, which is why I decided to turn it into a profession. Moreover, I want to convey positive messages because today, not only in Italy but worldwide, the music industry is dominated by an unethical model characterized by deception and vulgarity. My goal is to become proficient in the music field and give my best. My parents have done so much for me, and I want to thank them through my dedication.
Barbara Odetto: "Right Now" is your debut work?
Eric Simi: It's the first music video where I present myself as Eric Simi. The single - available on Spotify, YouTube, and major music platforms - is a dance/pop song that talks about when you meet a special girl with whom you have a lightning strike moment, and the positive tension that arises. Furthermore, the video was shot in Turin, a city I love.
Barbara Odetto: What do you like about living in London?
Eric Simi: The dynamism and the multicultural aspect. Also, the music industry here is extremely advanced.
Barbara Odetto: In January, "Billionaire" was released. Can you tell us about it?
Eric Simi: The song is pop rock with a very electronic and techno base. The message I convey is that I want to become a billionaire and I'll find a way to make it happen. In the video, I play a pool maintenance worker and am inspired by two billionaires talking to each other. At the end of the clip, the maintenance worker and the billionaire look at each other in the mirror and are the same person. The message is that with determination and grit, anything is possible.
Barbara Odetto: What's breakfast like for you?
Eric Simi: Three sunny-side-up eggs, cereal and oatmeal with cocoa and warm milk.
